We are very excited to share our plans for this year’s North Dakota Chokecherry Festival, scheduled for August 8-9, 2014.

This year, we look forward to bringing you a variety of vendor booths, great festival food, live entertainment and many family-friendly activities. In the Virgil Syverson Performance Center, you will enjoy a variety of live entertainment acts including the 2014 Teddy Talent Trek winners Rachel Richter and Conrad Kloepfer, a great veterans band out of New Mexico called Missing Stateside, Island Time Steel Drums and a number of North Dakota acts including Tigirlily, The Last Echo and October Road among others.

The North Dakota Chokecherry Festival has always been a great place for families, and this will prove true for 2014, as well. On Friday, we will kick things off with the free Burger Feed courtesy of Nemont and ice cream with chokecherry syrup courtesy of American State Bank. On Saturday, come early to enjoy the free pancake breakfast courtesy of Enbridge. The Chokecherry 5k Road Race starts at 9pm and our younger festival-goers will enjoy dressing up for and walking or riding their bikes in the Chokecherry Stroll at 10:30am (line up at First Lutheran Church parking lot on Main at 10am). Visit our Chokecherry Pit to meet Pirates of the Caribbean impersonator Joshua Godfredson, who loves to teach kids how to sword fight and talk like a pirate. There is always something to do in the Chokecherry Pit. Try a real chokecherry and see how far you can spit the pit, get your own balloon sculpture, have your face painted and other fun activities. The Chokecherry Store will be back this year, with all wide selection of chokecherry products for you to choose from. We have also added a sno cone stand, with chokecherry sno cone syrup developed especially for this festival!

All ages love the Ultimate Air Dogs, returning this year to the North Dakota Chokecherry Festival with an even larger pool both Friday evening and Saturday throughout the day. We encourage the public to bring their water-loving, people-friendly canine companions to participate at the festival this year. All sizes, breeds and ages are welcome, as long as they can swim!
